Each week I share sets of healthcare exercises from qi (chi) gong and nei gong practices, as well as teach the foundational exercises of Ba Gua Zhang. Ba Gu Zhang is an internal martial art that cultivates spiraling agility and power through footwork, Zhan Zhuang (stake standing) and applications practice. Typically my class is working on a qi gong set that is appropriate to the Season whilst digging into specific aspects of the internal movement strategy. The exercises are suited for persons of all ages and experience. I welcome you to come participate in a class and see what it's all about.
The exercises coordinate movement and breathing in a way that unlocks and unbinds the body. This type of movement is the perfect partner to Chinese medicine as it is an extension of the medicine. It may be more accurate to say that these movements are the origin of the medicine. We know some of the first recorded musings on longevity and health came from the pre-Daoist sages. And the more I become immersed in this way of movement the more I understand the acupuncture channels to be one with the spirals and lines of force that are cultivated through the internal arts. It is incredible to think that these exercises and this medicine have such a long history and yet remain present and available to us.
I am also available for private instruction and am interested in small group training with experienced practitioners. Feel free to contact me directly for details.
